Today, I saw on the BBC a place where they gather other people's opinions. The question was "Should the US send more troops to Iraq?" i HAD to respond.
this is what i wrote: God no. The United States, and other countries, need to pull their troops from both Iraq and Afghanistan. While I fully support the troops, I do not support my government. I feel the best way for the Iraqi people to recover is to let them be on their own and settle disputes between themselves. There is no need for us to have a military presence there, especially not now. The conflicts we are seeing are between two groups of people (mainly) the Shiites and the Sunnis, just like the US Civil War, the Union versus the Confederates. The Iraqis cannot fix their problems with everyone else involved. there was a 600 character limit, so that was all i could post. What do you guys think (about my comment as well as your own views).... -------------------- graceful insanity is beautiful when accomplished -- come into the closet

Sadly no matter what we do we are screwed. If we leave it will devolve into civil war and chaos. If we stay or troops will keep dying and it still might end up in civil war. The Shiites and the Sunnis have been killing each other for hundreds of years and will continue to do so until one of them wins or they are all dead.
If we leave Iran and Syria will move right on in along with all of the other terror groups in the Middle East. And then you have the Turks and the Kurds. The biggest problem is that we are not there to conquer Iraq, if we were it would be done by now. |
